Day 1: Our Classic Inca Trail Adventure Begins!
Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Km. 82 - Wayllabamba - AyapataThe first day of the Classic Inca Trail with Salas Travel Peru is a journey of discovery and challenge, beginning with an early departure from Cusco to Km 82, the official starting point. This initial trek along the Urubamba River offers breathtaking views of the Andean landscape and a gentle introduction to high-altitude hiking. A highlight of the day is reaching the impressive ruins of Llactapata, where we pause to explore and appreciate its historical significance.
From there, the trail leads to Hatun Chaca, marking the start of a more demanding ascent into the Andes. As we move towards Huayllabamba, the lush Sacred Valley transitions into rugged mountain terrain, making the hike increasingly challenging. The final stretch takes us to our campsite near Ayapata, where the altitude becomes more noticeable. Here, under the Andean night sky, we reflect on the day's adventure and prepare for the journey ahead.
