Machu Picchu tickets in 2026 explained: circuits, prices and Inca Trail entry

Juan from Salas Travel here. Machu Picchu tickets changed several times in 2026, and we answer the same questions every day. Here is a short summary of how they work now.

What is a circuit?

Every Machu Picchu ticket is sold for one circuit (a set route through the site) and an entry time. When you book with us, we choose the circuit that fits your tour and tell you which one you have.

How much is the entry ticket?

  • Foreign visitors: S/ 163.
  • Peruvians and citizens of the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador): S/ 69. They all pay the same national rate.

What is the new conservation surcharge?

Since May 2026 there is a conservation surcharge of S/ 11 for foreigners and S/ 5 for nationals. The prices above already include it. It is not applied to visitors who arrive on foot through the Inca Trail network.

I am hiking the Inca Trail. When do I enter Machu Picchu?

Under Ministerial Resolution 000306-2025-MC, hikers who arrive by the Inca Trail enter Machu Picchu the same day through circuit 3-B. On our 1-day Inca Trail that is your guided visit. On the Short Inca Trail you also have a full guided visit on day 2.

How many people can visit per day?

In high season, from 19 June to 2 November 2026, the daily capacity is 5,600 visitors. That sounds like a lot, but tickets for the most popular circuits and morning times still sell out, so book early.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring the original passport (or ID document) you used to buy the ticket. The national rate is checked against your document at the entrance.

Where can I read more?

Our full guide Machu Picchu Tickets 2026–2027 explains the 10 routes, the daily tickets per route and the rules at the gate. The Short Inca Trail permits page explains how Inca Trail permits and Machu Picchu entry fit together.
